A forward-thinking secondary school in Newcastle is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team and work with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a role where your presence and support can make a significant impact on a student's education, well-being, and future.
Role Responsibilities of the SEMH TA:
* Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with SEMH needs.
* Assist in managing challenging behaviour with a calm, proactive approach.
* Help pupils access learning by adapting resources and strategies.
* Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
* Build strong relationships with students based on trust and consistency.
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to support plans and reviews.
Job Requirements of the SEMH TA:
* Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or within an SEN setting.
* A calm, patient, and supportive attitude with strong emotional intelligence.
* Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
* Have anupdated CV (covering thelast ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) andan enhanced DBS registered to theUpdate Service (or be willing to apply for one).
