Urban Planning Officer
The Urban Planning Officer will be responsible for undertaking planning assessments and making decisions in relation to the development of land and buildings.
The successful candidate will have a degree in urban and regional planning or demonstrated relevant experience. They will also possess sound knowledge of the Planning & Design Code and other associated legislation relevant to urban planning matters.
The role involves working independently with limited supervision, utilising high level interpersonal skills when dealing with the public and other organisations. The organisation places a high emphasis on responsive customer service.
The key deliverables of this role include:
* Undertaking any necessary procedural requirements.
* Exercise development assessment decision making powers in accordance with Council's Delegation of Authority policy.
* Negotiate with applicants, architects, developers and the public to achieve positive development outcomes.
Required skills and qualifications include:
* Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or demonstrated relevant experience.
* Detailed knowledge of the Planning & Design Code.
* Sound knowledge of other associated or related legislation relevant to urban planning matters.
