About the QNMU The Queensland Nurses and Midwives' Union (QNMU) is the industrial and professional organisation for nurses and midwives working in public and private health and aged care in Queensland. The QNMU seeks to promote and defend the industrial, professional, social, political and democratic interests of over 73,000 members. We have over 200 employees including organisers, professionals and administrative personnel, and manage a multi-million-dollar operating budget. About the Role We are seeking a Servicing Officer to join our Brisbane(West End) office on a permanent full time basis. Working collaboratively with the Member Servicing Coordinator, this role provides advice and representation to individual members, or a group of members as required. In this hands-on and proactive role, your key accountabilities will see you: Protecting, defending and advancing members’ industrial interests in the workplace through individual representation and collective organising Provide professional and effective preparation and representation of members before their employers Liaise with Industrial, Professional and Legal officials to further the interests of QNMU members. Providing advice and guidance to delegates to enable them to effectively support members with local issues The team aspiration is for nurses, midwives and carers to be heard, supported by peers, empowered, guided and directed through sharing professional and industrial knowledge, and are able to access specialist representation. About You Working with the relevant internal stakeholders and as part of a cohesive team, you will have a professional approach, with the confidence to roll up your sleeves and get the job done. To be successful in this role you will possess: Qualifications and experience as a nurse or midwife is highly regarded Demonstrated experience in an advocacy role providing employment representation Demonstrated sound knowledge of state and federal industrial relations legislation Solutions focussed case management skills and negotiation skills An ability to acquire knowledge of the industrial interests of nurses and midwives Qualifications in Industrial Relations, Law or another relevant discipline is a bonus!
