The Science and Australian National Botanic Gardens Branch leads science and conservation planning and policy for Parks Australia, and conducts research in conservation and biodiversity management through a range of programs. We engage in and coordinate diverse research partnerships and ensure First Nations knowledge and innovative solutions are core to our work, enabling us to enhance engagement and embed science into decision-making at all levels. Our work includes:
* Strategic science planning and prioritisation and shaping research partnerships for Parks Australia.
* Leading cross-cutting research to support Parks Australia – in areas such as climate change adaptation, nature positive and knowledge weaving.
* Providing scientific support for Protected Areas policy and Park Management Plans.
* Managing the Australian National Botanic Gardens, home to our Branch and the nation's largest living collection of native plants.
* Innovation in the cross-cutting application of new technologies and data analytics to meet science and application outcomes.
* Facilitating research and science capacity building and education.
* Curating national collections of biological data and conserving and protecting plants through systematics research, seed banking and ex situ conservation.
* Climate adaption and policy for Parks Australia.
* Evaluation and reporting to understand management effectiveness and performance of our parks, gardens and agency.
* Data and information systems services for Parks Australia.
ANBG Visitor Experience and Education team are responsible for ensuring visitor safety and visitor customer service. ANBG attracts over 500,000 visitors annually.
The key duties of the position include:
In the role you will be responsible for:
* Provide professional reception and front of office support, acting as the first point of contact for enquiries and offering guidance on services related to venues and functions for staff, the general public, and Friends of the Australian National Botanic Gardens.
* Deliver comprehensive administrative support for reception and daily operations, including responding to in person and phone enquiries, managing shared mailboxes, processing venue bookings, handling room allocations, processing invoices, and ensuring timely and accurate communication.
* Coordinate venue bookings by liaising with clients, conducting site visits, preparing quotes, supporting event logistics, providing basic I.T. assistance, opening venue rooms, setting up spaces, and greeting clients.
* Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and contractors for cleaning and maintenance, manage equipment bookings, and oversee stock inventory and ordering for venues.
* Prepare necessary documents for clients and guests, ensuring smooth operational workflows.
* Maintain up to date venue information on the website.
* Assist in the delivery of visitor experience initiatives and public programs as required.
* Perform other duties as requested, consistent with the classification of the position and aligned with the principles of multi-skilling and professional development.
* Demonstrate a willingness to obtain and maintain relevant certifications, including First Aid training, to support safe and compliant service delivery.
Desirable qualifications
* Customer Service or / and Hospitality experience.
