Community Education and Engagement Officer

About the role

Logan Water is committed to providing reliable, sustainable, and safe water and wastewater services to our community. Every day, we deliver essential services that people rely on, and we take pride in doing it with innovation, efficiency, and a customer-first mindset. Our vision is Reliable, Sustainable, Committed, and we strive to lead the way in service excellence.

As a Community Education and Engagement Officer, you will play a key role in building community awareness and driving behavioural change through creative campaigns and engagement activities. This highly autonomous role gives you the freedom to think outside the box and bring fresh ideas to life. You'll work closely with our Senior Communications and Engagement Officer to plan and deliver events, campaigns, and initiatives that promote water-wise behaviours and environmental sustainability. From major events like Logan Eco Action Festival, Logan Christmas Carols, and Careers Expos, to flagship campaigns such as Choose Tap, Don't Rush to Flush, and Think Before You Sink, you'll be the face of Logan Water in the community—confidently engaging with the public, building relationships, and representing our brand with professionalism and creativity.

Key indicators:

* Plan, coordinate, and deliver community engagement events and education campaigns that align with Logan Water's strategic objectives.
* Set up and manage engagement stalls independently at major events, ensuring all safety and operational requirements are met.
* Engage confidently with members of the public, answering questions and promoting key messages in a friendly and informative manner.
* Build strong relationships with diverse community groups and stakeholders to foster trust and collaboration.
* Work closely with the Senior Communications and Engagement Officer to design and implement creative campaigns that influence behaviour and raise awareness.
* Represent Logan Water at high-profile events such as Logan Eco Action Festival, Logan Christmas Carols, Careers Expos, TAFE classes, and large-scale events featuring the Water Wagon.
* Deliver key campaigns including Choose Tap, Don't Rush to Flush, Think Before You Sink, Storm Preparedness, and Drought Messaging.
* Monitor and report on campaign success, including community feedback and engagement metrics, to inform future initiatives.
* Ensure all engagement activities are inclusive, culturally sensitive, and accessible to the diverse Logan community.

You'll possess

* Confidence and ability to set up and manage engagement stalls independently at community events.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with people from all walks of life.
* Creativity and a willingness to think outside the box, bringing innovative ideas to campaigns and events.
* High level of autonomy and self-motivation, with excellent time management skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, including the Senior Communications and Engagement Officer, to deliver impactful campaigns.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
* Water industry knowledge is not required—just a passion for community engagement and education.
* Experience in event coordination, public speaking, or community outreach is highly desirable.
* Proficiency in using digital tools and social media platforms to support engagement activities.

Requirements

* A current "C" class driver's licence
* The ability to work flexible hours.
