The Senior Project Officer position will sit under the Office of the Regional Director, Youth Justice, South West Region. In line with the rest of the regional office staff, the position is based in Ipswich however will oversee the whole of South West Region's response to young people held in police watchhouses. This role will require travel to Watchhouses and Youth Justice Service Centres within the region.
The Senior Project Officer key responsibilities are:
1. Provide project management including planning, implementing and monitoring projects on behalf of the branch, service area or department, ensuring quality outputs are delivered within agreed timeframes. Research and analyse information relevant to allocated projects.
2. Provide culturally appropriate supervision and leadership to a team of staff to ensure the delivery of high quality service in accordance with relevant legislative provisions, statutory delegations, departmental policies, procedures and contemporary best practice.
3. Prepare submissions, reports and correspondence on sensitive and diverse issues as required.
4. Deliver high quality advice and support to colleagues and senior management on a range of topics including planning and reporting.
5. Provide inter and intra directorate liaison on behalf of the branch and service area and represent the department in various cross-government forums as necessary.
6. Participate as part of a cohesive, high performing team in which all members' contributions are valued and encouraged while effectively using human and financial resources to optimise the performance of the team and deliver agreed outcomes.
