**About the position**
Reporting to the Works Coordinator - Parks, the Trainee Natural Areas will be trained to assist with the conservation and management of Council's natural assets. This includes native vegetation, waterways, and bushland within parks, reserves, and open space areas. Through on-the-job training and formal studies, the position aims to develop skills in environmental restoration, weed and pest control, ecological monitoring, and land management practices. This is a full-time position for two (2) years. The trainee will complete the AHC31424 Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management through TAFE NSW - Digital.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist with ecological restoration projects.
- Support activities to control invasive plant and animal species in natural areas.
- Assist in maintaining walking tracks, fences, signage, and other natural infrastructure.
- Contribute to the monitoring of environmental indicators, including water quality and biodiversity.
- Support community education and engagement activities where appropriate.
- Comply with all relevant WHS procedures and policies and follow safe work practices at all times.

**About you**
- Higher School Certificate or equivalent.
- Current Drivers Licence (minimum NSW Provisional P1 Licence or equivalent).
- Eligibility to enrol in AHC31424 Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.
- An interest in working outdoors and in environmental conservation.
- Willingness to work in remote and solitary conditions.
