Penola Catholic College is a co-educational college for students from years 7–12 with two campuses in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. College campuses are situated in Glenroy, which caters for years 7 and 8, and the senior campus in Broadmeadows that features years 9 to 12 and a total college enrolment of approximately 1,400 students. We provide students with real life learning opportunities and experiences that will prepare them for the "business of living". About You
We seek the services of an enthusiastic and experienced Voice and Piano Teacher / Accompanist to join our dynamic and passionate music team. We anticipate having approximately four days of teaching available across both campuses, with the potential for student enrolments to increase. Teaching day/s are flexible. Accompanist duties are required throughout the year as required for VCE Students, rehearsals and performances. This role is ideal for a professional music educator with event planning/gigging experience, accompanist experience, and a drive to seek out/develop performance opportunities for students. You will also have a demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and to the safety and wellbeing of children.
Responsibilities
Approx four days work per week during school hours with potential for additional work
Out of hours events (approx. two each term) such as Battle of the Bands, Performing Arts Showcase, and VCE Music assessment performances
Scheduling and delivering private lessons for students in voice and piano
Leading weekly choir rehearsals for our 2 vocal ensembles: Junior and Senior Voices
Leading weekly band rehearsals for our Rock Band Program (approximately two bands)
Planning and leading small-scale events such as lunchtime band concerts, Christmas carolling, and choir performances
Administrative tasks as required
Travel between our two campuses
Desirable: Serving as rehearsal and performance accompanist for VCE Music students
The Successful Applicant Will:
Have a current Working with Children Check or VIT Registration
Hold a music education or tertiary music degree
Be a skilled musician and educator with the ability to relate to students of all abilities
Have experience preparing Voice and Piano students for VCE Music Performance examinations
Have experience leading an ensemble/band/choir
Have experience or willingness to learn set-up for gigs/concerts
Applications must have a current Working with Children's Check and Police Check (or willing to obtain) or a VIT registration.
Position Details
Casual contract – Late-Jan through Mid-December ****
$80 per hour
