**About the Role**
We are currently seeking to appoint a Road Safety Officer. This position coordinates the development and implementation of a Road Safety Action Plan and assists in other traffic and transport matters related to road safety. This position contributes towards the organisations objective of having a safe and effective road system in which the needs and aspirations of the community are recognised.
**Key accountabilities include**:
- Develop, coordinate and implement a Road Safety Action Plan and contribute to state-wide and regional road safety
- Analyse road accident data provided by an Organisation, to determine the contributing factors, identify and prioritise target groups for road safety initiatives and promotion of behavioural change
- Facilitate the Government Road Safety Program, fostering existing partnerships with both internal and external customers and encouraging wider community ownership and participation in road safety issues
- Consult with the community (including service providers, stakeholders, businesses, groups and individuals) to develop and deliver road safety projects using the Safe Systems approach to road safety
- Contribute to state-wide and regional road safety
- Meet reporting, monitoring, evaluation and budget management requirements according to the Program Funding Agreement between the program partners.
- Develop appropriate resources where appropriate to assist in the promotion of road safety messages
- Respond to internal and external customer enquiries
**About You**
- Experience in road safety education and ability to write and present reports
- Demonstrated ability to undertake research and networking with key agencies, community groups, local businesses and other stakeholders to identify local road safety needs
- Ability to prepare, develop and implement a road safety strategy and action plan with emphasis on behavioural and education programs and projects
