Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
- 7+ years of experience in construction cost control, with specific knowledge of electrical, mechanical and ASC cost elements
- 4+ years managing a team of direct reports
- 4+ years' experience with Data Center or other mission critical construction environments

The Manager of Construction Cost Control is a strategically significant role dedicated to leading, mentoring, and coaching a team of skilled Cost Engineers. This team supports data center related construction projects across multiple regions within Asia Pacific, Japan and China (APJC) to ensure compliance and fiscal responsibility. As part of the larger team of construction specialists, you will be responsible for championing initiatives and seeking simple solutions to complex problems. You will use data driven metrics to seek ways to improve processes and reduce cycle times for the delivery of data center capacity supporting Amazon's growth.
Key job responsibilities
**To be successful in this role, you will**:
- Hire, develop, coach, meantor and lead an international team of Cost Engineers;
- Strategic and tactical management of cost control support across the region
- Work alongside the regional Data Center Planning & Delivery (DCPD) Construction Director/Manager to commercially manage all projects in the region
- Provide the Construction Management (CM) team all commercial support necessary to ascertain the required OP and CAR funding, and all commercial information needed to back up these funding requests to Leadership.
- Review the current commercial processes in the region. Develop and maintain a regional program for Cost Reporting hosted on a business intelligence dashboard.
- Develop and enhance tools and templates for bid analysis and cost management
- Use of metrics to measure and improve the performance of team
- Use of metrics to measure and improve the performance of 3rd party Quantity Surveyor vendors
- Working seamlessly with multi-disciplinary teams, both internal and external on an international scale
- Communicating cost control goals to all stakeholders effectively
- Implementing, maintaining and executing all cost control, change management, progress and performance reporting
- Ability to lead, motivate and train direct reports
- Ability to perform complex business case analysis and present recommendations to both construction and non-construction professionals.
- Strong knowledge and expertise of cost control practices, standards, systems and processes relevant to the operations of DC projects
- Provide commercial support to Design Team; provide commercial support on business cases, value engineering studies and change control as the design evolves from Design Kick-off though to 100% design
