Overview
Lauriston Girls’ School seeks to employ an experienced and enthusiastic Teacher of Flute for approximately two days per week, for Term 4, 2025.
The role
The role:
This casual position includes approximately 8 hours per week of private Flute tuition.
The successful applicant/s may also be invited to teach within the Ensemble Program, depending on availability.
Applicants are encouraged to apply even if they are only available for a portion of the advertised position. This position may be split between multiple applicants, depending on the availability and suitability of each applicant. At this stage, there is flexibility surrounding the days of the week on which private lessons may occur; however, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays are preferable.
The successful applicant will
- Be a agile, innovative, and motivating Flute specialist, with demonstrated experience teaching beginner to advanced level musicians
- Be willing to work collaboratively with the Head of Band Instruments to inspire student engagement in the school’s woodwind program and support the recruitment of Flute students
- Encourage student involvement in the school’s co-curricular band and orchestral ensemble programs, in order to develop the woodwind culture at Lauriston
- Have a clear understanding of the relevant examination syllabi and be willing to incorporate technology and other elements of contemporary curriculum into their lessons
- Utilise a range of strategies and skills to engage young musicians, supporting them to develop an intrinsic interest in the study of Flute
- Be willing to work collaboratively with families, utilising appropriate methods of communication to ensure students can be supported to practise successfully at home
- Experience in directing or tutoring ensembles would be an advantage
- Experience teaching within a Kodály framework is highly desirable
Skills and qualifications
- A collaborative teaching approach is essential for working as a member of the Lauriston Music Department
- A current VIT registration or Working with Children Check is required
