We are delighted to announce that our lovely team at Townsend Park are currently seeking an enthusiastic, committed, customer focused Gardener to join them on part time basis.
Nestled in the serene coastal suburb of Hove, Townsend Park is more than just a retirement village – it's a vibrant, welcoming community where residents feel truly at home.
Your work will support our inviting communal areas and well-kept homes – all just a short stroll from Brighton Beach and the lively café culture of Jetty Road. Whether it's keeping the garden spaces in top shape for social gatherings or simply assisting residents with upkeep around their homes, your contribution will make a real difference every day.
The successful candidates will be required to deliver garden and property maintenance, ensuring the village is properly kept for the enjoyment of the residents.
Reporting to the Village Manager, your duties will include:
* Maintaining all front gardens, communal gardens, and shared outdoor spaces
* Hedging, shrub trimming, pruning, planting, watering, weeding, and clearing leaves
* Mowing lawns and carrying out whipper snipping
* Conducting weed spraying and small scale pesticide application
* Cleaning and maintaining grounds, pathways, and communal areas
* Managing green waste and ensuring appropriate disposal
* Performing minor irrigation repairs and assisting with irrigation upkeep (existing irrigation knowledge highly regarded)
* Maintaining tools, machinery, and equipment to ensure they remain safe and in good working order
* Supporting the village's preventative maintenance schedule, including:
* Conducting basic property checks across communal areas and external building surrounds
* Reporting hazards, wear and tear, or maintenance needs in a timely manner
* Completing assigned preventative tasks to help prolong the life of garden assets, pathways, and outdoor fixtures
* Working cooperatively with the Village Manager and team to ensure the village remains welcoming, well presented, and safe for all residents
Shifts
* Monday – 7:30am to 3:30pm
* Tuesday – 7:30am to 3:30pm
* Wednesday – 7:30am to 3:30pm
* Thursday – 7:30am to 3:30pm
About you
The successful candidate will have the following:
* Current Australian Driver's Licence
* A genuine love for plants and nature
* A genuine interest in assisting independent living seniors
* A green thumb and enthusiasm! No formal gardening experience required
* Reliability and a positive attitude
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Understanding of machinery use and tools required for the job
* High organisation skills and the ability to effectively manage and prioritise multiple tasks
* Knowledge of Environment, Health and Safety legislation
* Level 2 First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
