Job summary

Responsibilities
- Visit participants at their homes to have a friendly conversation and discuss progress for the week
- Assist with daily living tasks, such as grocery shopping or accompanying to medical appointments
- Take walks with participants in nearby parks to promote wellbeing
- Assist with personal administrative tasks, including Centrelink matters, bill payments, and housing searches
- Support individuals in gaining confidence in social environments by accompanying them to local shopping centres
- Encourage improved physical health by helping with gym sessions or outdoor activities
- Assist with gardening to support independent living
- Transport participants using your own vehicle as required (vehicle use is a core part of the role)
About the role
My Journey Coach Ltd is a remote organisation with no fixed office location. You will work mostly independently, with support from your Team Leader when needed. You will connect with participants who have requested our services and determine suitable schedules for recurring appointments (typically once or twice per week).
You will establish a dependable roster of participants to meet with regularly at prearranged times, based on funding in their NDIS plan and personal preferences.
Qualifications and requirements
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience
- Availability to work on week days; flexible shifts
- Current NDIS Worker Check and Police Check
- Certificate of NDIS Worker Orientation Program
- Experience working with people with mental health disability
- Previous experience in a similar role within the NDIS framework preferred
- Ability to provide two current/recent work-related references
- Robust interpersonal and communication skills; compassionate, empathetic, and patient approach
- Excellent problem-solving, adaptability, and resilience
- Ability to manage your own roster and work independently
- Commitment to at least 12 months in the role; desire for a consistent weekly schedule of at least 20 hours
- Proficient with basic office technology and using your own phone/computer for work (logging shifts, etc.)
- Access to a car and Australian driver’s licence; you will be reimbursed per kilometre for transporting participants
- Desirable: relevant training/education (e.g., degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field) and minimum Cert IV in Mental Health, Individual Support, or related field
- Current First Aid (valid for 3 years) and CPR (valid for 12 months)
- NDIS screening check and Working with Children check required

- Penalty rates apply for weekend and public holiday shifts
- We pay well above minimum award rates to attract high-quality staff
- Remote organisation with no fixed office location; you will be largely autonomous
