Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions Pty Ltd (RNM), a joint venture between Rheinmetall Waffe Munitions and NIOA Pty Ltd has established a state of the art forging and manufacturing facility in Maryborough QLD that produces artillery shell cases and other munitions-related products for supply to the defence industry.
What are we looking for?
As the Quality Manager, you are responsible for the overall strategy and execution of quality management and operations to drive optimal organisational performance to achieve RNM’s strategic objectives. This includes ensuring best practice quality systems, processes, policies, procedures and controls are developed, implemented and adopted in accordance with the relevant Australian and international standards, and customer requirements and expectations.

Key Accountabilities
Aligned to the company direction and strategy, develop and lead the quality team by establishing a quality strategy including the implementation of QMS, budget, workplans, policies, procedures, processes and KPIs to optimise value of the quality function. Fully accountable for all activities and processes, including certification standards being continuously met through regular monitoring and review.
Establish and maintain excellent professional relationships with other functional leads to achieve seamless RNM outcomes.
Monitor effectiveness of the quality function including IMS systems and processes by overseeing activities and co-ordinating audits, health checks and other activities fostering a continuous improvement culture.
Report on departmental and company performance pertaining to QMS, quality standards, audits, supplier management. Recommend and direct implementation of improvements to meet company objectives.
Maintain a competent and engaged work team for optimum outcomes in your work function aligned to the desired company culture.
Actively participate in regular team meetings to align and work collaboratively for a consistent way of working across the full RNM team and provide support as required.
Participate in critical design reviews of product and influence production processes and plant design to sustain quality of final products.
Define raw material specifications, develop the qualification process of suppliers and manage the qualification program including incoming goods inspection.
Collaborate with operations to establish the quality plan for the production facility and design the overall product and process qualification for first article and production inspection of products.
Provide quality management support for projects to global Rheinmetall Quality teams to ensure understanding and compliance with contractual requirements, Australian certified engineering standards and Australian Defence Force approved standards.
Ensure all internal and external audits and standards are met and all certificates and licences are compliant to regulatory requirements.
Establish and actively monitor RNM quality key performance indicators, utilising contemporary but practical statistical tools and methodologies. This includes establishing annual quality objectives and metrics in support of business priorities and lead improvements of the quality culture and performance.
Lead by example and enact any change management/company project initiatives with your team in a highly supportive and encouraging manner for positive outcomes.
Act as the subject matter expert in regards to quality and process improvement and maintain a contemporary knowledge of current industry trends, standards and methodologies relating to quality systems & management, certifications and best practices.
Provide expertise and guidance to RNM in interpreting government regulations and guidelines related to QMS and regulatory compliance.
Interface directly with regulatory bodies on matters pertaining to processes, products or quality system compliance.
Establish and maintain key business relationships with external stakeholders for mutually successful outcomes.
Lead your area with matters relating to people, safety, quality, cost, output ensuring compliance with company processes and procedures. Report or elevate unresolved matters promptly.
Proactively lead your area in a way that builds and maintains positive and safe working relationships aligned to the values including promoting the health & wellbeing of team members, collaboration and safety consultation.
Retain current knowledge of company procedures, rules etc. to identify and implement shift/area processes and work instructions then review for effectiveness. Co-ordinate all training requirements with fellow team members to achieve and maintain a skilled, trained and engaged work team.
Coaches and corrects team members to ensure compliance with all company processes and legislation.
For any contractors or visitors, ensures company safety processes are met including adequate supervision.
Escalate relevant WHSE matters to WHSE Specialist or Senior Leader.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Degree in Engineering
Quality management certification
Industry 4.0 certification and/or related experience
Knowledge of non-destructive testing and ultrasonic testing
Experience and in-depth understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
Intermediate to advanced experience in similar occupation including industrial processes and quality management.
Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Office and ERP

Additional Requirements
Fit to work in munitions manufacturing environment.
Ability and resilience to work varied hours as required to achieve desired outcomes including overall leadership of teams on multiple shifts.
Ongoing police/security screening and checks and permanent right to work in Australia.
Occasional domestic and international travel required.
