The Fred Hollows Foundation is seeking a highly skilled communicator to join its Policy and Advocacy team. As a Senior Policy and Advocacy Advisor, you will be accountable for delivering high-level advocacy and policy initiatives in alignment with the Indigenous Australia Program (IAP) Principles, Indigenous Australia Country Strategy, Team Charter, The Foundations Social Justice approach, and Foundations Strategic Framework.
About the Role
As a key member of our team, you will support the implementation of the IAP Advocacy Strategy and take ownership of deliverables. You will also undertake research and policy analysis on current and emerging policy areas related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander eye health.

2. Support the implementation of the IAP Advocacy Strategy and take ownership of deliverables.
3. Undertake research and policy analysis on current and emerging policy areas related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander eye health.
4. Prepare high-quality written materials including briefings, discussion papers, and policy positions to inform the IAP and the Foundations approaches to advocacy and influencing.
5. Support the IAP to implement jurisdiction and national eye health sector advocacy initiatives.
6. Work with IAP and partners to translate program evidence, learning, and research into policy positions.
7. Contribute to development of organisation and sector submissions to government, in consultation with the Government Relations team and other inquiries as applicable.
8. Undertake advocacy at National and State/Territory forums to influence policy and practice change, including direct advocacy to Government, in line with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander plans National Workforce Plan and National Eye Health Plan.
9. Contribute to the development and implementation of quality project plans to ensure effective translation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy goals into actionable strategies and plans.
10. Work towards The Foundations commitment to social justice.
11. Actively engage with key stakeholders in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health sector and seek input and advice to enable advocacy activities and/or explore new partnerships that reflect community aspirations.
