We are seeking a suitable testing officer to undertake testing and assessment associated with the national and international certification of explosion protected equipment. Operating from within Simtars, Training, Testing and Certification Centre, you will be involved in undertaking testing activities associated with the national and international certification of explosion protected equipment used in underground coal mines and other hazardous industrial environments.
You will have relevant experience and knowledge that can be applied to testing techniques for assessing compliance. You will be able to demonstrate attention to detail, clear communication, and an enthusiastic approach to collaborate within an inclusive environment, which will be essential to assist Simtars in delivering quality outcomes.
Key Accountabilities
* Conduct hands‐on hazardous protection testing and assessment of equipment and materials in accordance with standards, procedures, and work instructions.
* Develop a working knowledge of applicable standards, regulations (mining and electrical), and test procedures associated with testing and assessment activities.
* Deliver and schedule own work assignments, testing and assessment services to clients and stakeholders through effective planning.
* Liaise, consult, negotiate and maintain effective communication with staff at all levels and with external parties, and deal with sensitive information in an appropriate manner.
* Respond proactively to strategic direction and vision and contribute ideas and suggestions for improvement.
* Ensure NATA, IECEx, JAS‐ANZ and ISO9001 accreditations are maintained.
Attributes Considered Mandatory or Highly Desirable
* Has prior experience, or the ability to quickly acquire the necessary skills, working in a hands‐on manufacturing, installation or servicing electrical or electronic/mechanical equipment, or a relevant laboratory or testing role.
* Practical ability in setting up and performing testing prescribed in the applicable standards to confirm compliance.
* Ability to interpret and apply Australian, international and ISO standards.
* Excellent communication skills to engage directly with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
* Able to develop effective networks with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
* Possession of a current and valid driver's licence is essential.
