The Role:Make Visible Difference in the Community
Reporting directly to the Team Leader Marketing and Communications, as the Senior Engagement Officer, you will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of high‐quality community engagement channels and activities, enabling transparent, inclusive and evidence‐informed decision‐making at Council.
You'll be joining a vibrant team of new and experienced specialists in digital communications and marketing. We're keen to hear your creative ideas and in turn give you the technologies and support you need to succeed. The core focus of the role is structured community engagement, and how to build effective engagement projects. It is a high‐touch role which will see you out from your desk regularly and out there engaging with Launceston.
The role provides specialist advice to leaders and project teams, develops engagement plans for complex initiatives, strengthens organisational engagement capability, and ensures all engagement activities meet legislative, policy and strategic requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesWe're seeking someone with proven community engagement experience. Local government experience isn't essential, but it will be viewed favourably. You'll be confident, self‐directed and comfortable operating with minimal guidance. If you're good at explaining complex issues in simple terms, and creating a safe and respectful space for community feedback, then this role will suit you well.
Tertiary qualification in Engagement, Communications, Social Sciences or related field will be highly regarded, as will IAP2 engagement certification.
