We are seeking an experienced Accountant to take ownership of our core finance functions and work closely with the Financial Controller to strengthen the financial backbone of the business. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will manage key accounting processes, oversee payroll, ensure compliance, and provide actionable insights that support strategic business decisions.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare and process month-end journals, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reports
* Conduct balance sheet reconciliations
* Maintain cash flow projections
* Assist with the preparation of year-end financial statements, statutory reporting, and external audits
* Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring compliance with legislation and awards
* Maintain payroll records, employee entitlements, superannuation and PAYG reporting
* Ensure accuracy and compliance in AP/AR, supplier payments, and debtor management
* Maintain fixed asset registers and lease schedules
* Support the continuous improvement across the finance function
* Collaborate with department heads to prepare budgets, forecasts, and provide actionable financial insights
* Contribute to systems enhancements, ERP optimisation (NetSuite highly regarded) and automation projects
Requirements:
* Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
* 3+ years' accounting experience (public practice accounting experience also desirable)
* Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting experience
* Proven track record with payroll processing, compliance, and reporting
* Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills with ability to analyse and interpret data
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills – able to communicate financials clearly to non-finance teams
* High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
