The Company
Our client is a well-established, privately owned manufacturing business with a proud history of delivering high-quality timber and truss solutions to the Victorian residential construction sector. With a strong reputation for operational excellence, product innovation and customer service, the company has grown steadily and now services a broad portfolio of residential project home builder clients with a ground-breaking new offering that has the potential to disrupt the way townhouses and detached dwellings are constructed. Following years of investment into innovation, production capability and more recently into automation and robotics, they are on the cusp of breakthrough growth with a solution that has been proven with a multitide of projects delivered successfully, solving a nationwide problem for builders around cost and speed to complete residential projects. Based in regional Victoria, the business is supported by a committed team and a values-driven culture, and is well-positioned for its next phase of strategic growth.
The Role
Reporting directly to the owner and Managing Director, the CEO will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to the organisation. Key priorities will include driving and managing sustainable growth, strengthening operational efficiencies, fostering a high-performance culture, and building on the company's strong industry relationships. The CEO will play a critical role in shaping the future direction of the business, ensuring alignment between day-to-day operations and long-term strategic objectives, also mentoring and developing leadership capability internally and prioritising strategic initiatives (of which there are plenty ranging from footprint expansion to market education and development). This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance commercial acumen with a deep understanding of the manufacturing environment for the residential sector (noting we are not currently considering candidates from other manufacturing backgrounds).
The Candidate
You are a proven executive with experience leading and scaling businesses within the residential building products manufacturing sector, ideally timber related. You bring a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach, along with strong financial, operational, and people leadership skills. A background in privately owned or founder-led businesses will be highly regarded, as will experience navigating regional or decentralised environments. Above all, you are a values-led leader who can inspire teams, engage stakeholders, and deliver results in a dynamic and evolving industry. Experience in P&L leadership roles such as State Manager, General Manager, Managing Director or CEO is essential as is experience leading manufacturing.
This role is ideally suited to a leader who's had corporate experience and in more recent years may have worked in a smaller to medium sized, privately owned business where they have to be agile, hands-on and help guide a business owner to develop their commercial offering, establish and improve processes and lead operational efficiencies. Manufacturing experience in areas like timber, frame & truss, interior walling systems, panels, doors and frames or any products that service the residential project home builder will be highly regarded.
