Economic Development Officer
The Economic Development Officer will work with the Principal Economic Development and internal teams to champion industry growth, workforce readiness, innovation, and investment attraction. You'll help shape the Cassowary Coast into an even more vibrant, sustainable, and competitive place to live, enjoy, work and do business.
Compensation
Base pay range: A$95,******/yr – A$95,******/yr (variable based on skills and experience)

Responsibilities
Deliver and monitor key economic development strategies—including the Economic Development Strategy, Destination Management Plan, Visitor Information Services Strategy, and Events Strategy—to grow the visitor economy and attract investment.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with businesses, developers, investors, government, and community stakeholders to unlock new opportunities across the region.
Provide clear, data-driven insights to guide investment decisions, advocacy, and economic development priorities.
Facilitate both private and public investment in priority industries such as tourism infrastructure, accommodation, agritourism, and business precincts.
Qualifications
Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience delivering strategic projects that impact economic or visitor-economy growth.
Excellent relationship building across industry, government, and community stakeholders.
Strong communication skills – confident with Councillors, external stakeholders, and internal teams.
Current Queensland C-class driver's licence.
Bonus: Understanding of Northern Australia's regional context, experience in attracting investment or working on public-private partnerships, and familiarity with grant programs supporting tourism and regional infrastructure.
