About The Role
The Principal Policy Adviser initiates and conducts the high level, strategic and complex development of critical investment, trade and economic development programs and policies, which support Agency, State and National objectives. The role provides advice to key internal and external stakeholders, in a professional and collaborative manner, which significantly supports the achievement of the Teams goals.
As a Principal Policy Adviser, You Will
* Lead an effective, high-level collaboration with key stakeholders to formulate, communicate and disseminate policy initiatives and projects related to economic growth and trade and investment
* Lead, manage and undertake research into complex and sensitive matters and opportunities, and identify issues that impact on the economic development of the State
* Lead whole of government submissions to relevant parliamentary enquiries, and lead Cabinet submissions for major policy changes and submissions advocating South Australia's position to the Commonwealth
* Establish and manage effective state and national relationships and networks to influence and consolidate State and Commonwealth Government policy and strategies
* Prepare briefing papers, Cabinet documents, Parliamentary briefings, reports, responses to ministerial inquiries and other issues of a complex and sensitive nature
Key Competencies
To apply and succeed in the role, you will have:
* Demonstrated experience in leading and supporting strategic program, planning and policy development processes involving high level and sensitive consultation and negotiation, including developing and maintaining long term mutually beneficial relationships and networks with diverse stakeholders
* Knowledge and experience across investment, trade and economic development policy, understanding of government policy legislation, decision making and the operations of a Ministerial office
* Able to rapidly assess policy implications of proposals and negotiate development of policy with a range of influential stakeholders
* Demonstrated ability to effectively initiate and lead development, implementation and evaluation of critical and complex policies and strategies which support government objectives, including using extensive analysis, creativity and strategic thinking skills
Remuneration
Competitive salary ASO7 $108,109 to $116,864 p.a. plus superannuation

Qualifications
* Essential: Nil
* Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in law, economics, social science or similar and/or relevant industry experience
Special Conditions
* The role will be offered full-time (1.0 FTE) ongoing basis
* Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) required prior to employment
