Responsibilities
Assist chef/cooks with the preparation of meals, including washing, peeling, chopping, and cooking ingredients.
Portion food appropriately according to dietary guidelines and resident needs.
Assist in the preparation of special dietary requirements (e.g., pureed meals, texture-modified diets).
Clean kitchen surfaces, equipment, and floors in accordance with health and safety standards and always following the food safety program.
Ensure that food is delivered to residents in a timely manner.
Assist with the receive and storage of kitchen supplies, ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO) and storage practices.
Participate in regular training on food safety, manual handling, and other relevant topics.
Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
Assist in other kitchen-related tasks as required.
Requirements
Valid and current Police Certificate.
Demonstrated experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably in an aged care or healthcare setting.
Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform manual handling tasks.
Commitment to providing high-quality service to aged care residents.
