About This Opportunity:As a Senior Research Chemist in our Melbourne hub, you will be a crucial part of our RD&I team, reporting directly to the Regional Platform Manager. Your primary mission? Develop and maintain the Coil product portfolio for South Asia, making impactful decisions and contributing to cutting-edge research in Industrial Coatings.What You'll Do: Creative design of new products, formulations, and test protocols in support of the Coil business Effective management of multiple projects, ensuring alignment of goals and deliverables with business and market needs. Close collaboration with regional & global product development teams to ensure the projects are in the right direction and meet customer/business needs. Sets up, plans execute, analyses, interprets, and reports experiments. Identifies new product/process optimization and technical solutions and new application opportunities for own area/domain and shares these with other professionals. Maintain currently used procedure/methods up to date and improves relevant research methods in the field, ensuring the retention of knowledge through research reports. Participates in or leads projects and ensures execution and delivery of technical results. Performs activities in cooperation with other departments (eg. procurement, marketing, sales, manufacturing and Product Stewardship and Regulatory Affairs) and research locations. Some interact with the suppliers and customers. Protection of AkzoNobel technologies (IP law, patent applications) Ensure that HSE and objectives are met in full, as per the Akzo Nobel OH&S Safety Plan, to provide a safe working environment with zero LTIs. What We Require: Industry Experience: 6-9 years in the Industrial Coatings sector. Educational Background: PhD, Bachelor's degree in chemistry/Polymer Science or equivalent. Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills. Proficiency in English. Attributes: Self-motivated, team player, adaptable, and results-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset. Tech Savvy: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
