The Role
We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse with postgraduate qualifications in critical care nursing and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Norwest Private Hospital.
Our ICU is an innovative, high-functioning unit with 19 beds, specializing in cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, orthopaedic, and general surgery. The team plays a significant role in interventional and non-interventional cardiology, caring for acutely unwell patients from the Emergency Department, and supporting deteriorating patients and the Medical Emergency Team (MET). The ICU provides vital clinical leadership across the hospital.
The Nurse Educator will be responsible for:
* Delivering and organizing education for existing and new staff within the ICU
* Participating in hospital-wide clinical governance committees
* Reviewing policies at local and corporate levels, incorporating best practices and delivering effective education accordingly
* Demonstrating strong mentoring and leadership skills
* Networking across the Healthscope Critical Care Cluster to share innovations and promote nursing in the ICU
* Coordinating the 'Transition to Critical Care' program for nurses with minimal ICU experience
* Supporting and guiding the Clinical Nurse Educator in ICU
* Leading key quality improvement initiatives
The Nurse Educator will work under the supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and Senior Nurse Educator.
Minimum requirements:
* Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
* Postgraduate qualification in a relevant specialty area
* Previous experience as a clinical nurse educator
* Experience with eLearning platforms
* High computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Masters of Critical Care Nursing (or working towards)
* Masters of Education (or working towards)
