As a Medical Officer on the health services team at Acacia Correctional Centre, you'll make a positive impact by promoting the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates, ensure the safety and security of inmates and the community and provide a respectful environment to inmates. This is a casual role, Monday to Friday, 2 days a week(flexible days)
As a Medical Officer in the Health Services team, you'll make a positive impact by:
Providing high-quality medical care within a multidisciplinary team
Refer inmates to external providers when care needs exceed the Centre's capabilities, and review progress and outcomes promptly
Provide skilled health assessments, diagnosis and treatment services to inmates
Educating inmates on health and lifestyle choices
Take responsibility for, or contribute to the clinical supervision of Nurse Practitioners/Clinical placements
Supporting patient reintegration into the community
Ensuring continuity of care for a diverse custodial population
Working closely with correctional staff to deliver integrated care
To be successful in this role you'll have:
Unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA
Possess a degree in Medicine from a recognised tertiary institution
Be recognised as a Fellow or working towards the same with RACGP
Current Life Support certification/ALS
Experience in Primary Care, Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol and Emergency care
Ability to provide appropriate diagnosis and treatment
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written forms
Cultural awareness and the ability to work with diverse populations
