An opportunity exists for 2 qualified Chef / Cooks to join our well established and highly reputable Catering Department at Brisbane Private Hospital on a full time or part time basis. We offer a supportive atmosphere, with an extensive education program so you get to work in a role that offers you work-life balance.
We have a full time option working Monday to Friday, 10am - 6pm and a part time option working Wednesday to Friday 6am - 1.30pm
About us:
Brisbane Private Hospital is renowned as a leading provider of world class orthopaedic services, and we're expanding! Currently with 15 operating theatres, in April 2024 we will open 2 new, additional state-of-the-art orthopaedic operating theatres.
We are a specialist surgical orthopaedic and neuro-spine hospital with additional surgical specialities that include ENT, plastics and reconstructive surgery, gynae, general, maxillo-facial/oral and urology.
As a Chef your responsibilities will include:
* Provide exceptional customer/patient service by preparing nutritious food in a timely manner, ensuring the cleanliness of kitchens and food preparation, disposing of unused food appropriately, and ordering food supplies.
* Demonstrate cost effectiveness by using produce effectively and managing waste.
* Act as a valued member of an interdisciplinary team by promoting a positive team culture, supervising and providing guidance to kitchen staff, and by liaising with dieticians and other staff to create an experience that makes a difference.
* Demonstrate professional practice by working according to Healthscope's policies and processes, code of conduct and by participating in yearly performance appraisals and mandatory education. Maintain skills and standards of customer service and ensure patient confidentiality and privacy are maintained at all times.
* Supports Healthscope's safety and quality improvement and achievement of accreditation by actively participating in team meetings, quality and audit activities, and ensuring compliance with and participation in the National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards.
Selection Criteria:
* Certificate III in Commercial Cooking
* Good working knowledge and understanding of HACCP regulations
* Safe Food Handling Certificate (desirable)
* Available for shifts over a 7 day roster including weekend work
* Experience in hospital or hotel food service environment preferred
