About the Organisation
EREA Flexible Schools Ltd currently educates over 2,000 young people across 21 Flexible Schools (12 in Queensland and 9 elsewhere in Australia) and two Special Education Services Schools in Sydney. These schools serve young people facing complex educational, social, or psychological challenges, providing a trauma-informed, supportive learning environment based on the principles of Honesty, Respect, Participation, and Safety, embedded in the 'Operation by Principles' and 'Common Ground' frameworks.
About the Role
The primary responsibility of this role is to support young people's engagement in learning through in-class support, workshops, and activities promoting inclusion and social development. The role involves collaboration with teachers, other youth workers, and school leadership. Candidates should possess thorough knowledge of youth work theories and practices and experience applying this knowledge. Refer to the Position Description for more details.
About You
* Experience working with youth or in a school setting, especially in classrooms
* Knowledge of youth/social work/wellbeing theories, process frameworks, and ethics
* Experience running activities with young people
* Ability to work within the practice frameworks of Flexible Schools, including Operation by Principles and Common Ground
* Ability to analyze complex situations and respond appropriately
* Capacity to work effectively in challenging, unpredictable environments
* Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Interest and experience in working with young people with diverse learning needs
* Strong professional relationship skills with stakeholders
* Effective communication skills, both written and oral
* Good time management and planning skills
* Openness to diverse cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives
