WA Country Health Service – Albany Hospital is seeking General Medicine Service Registrars to join their dynamic and supportive team in one of Western Australia's most sought-after coastal locations.
This is a recruitment pool to fill Full Time Fixed term appointments for 6 and 12 months with possibility of extension(s)
We currently have 1 Fixed Term, Full Time position for 6-months commencing on 18th August 2025 and several positions for Full Time 6- or 12-months appointments commencing in 2026 with possibility of extension(s). Appointments from this pool may be made until 02/02/2026.

POSITION PROFILE
The successful candidates will be responsible for the clinical care of general medicine patients at the Albany Health Campus under the supervision of experienced Physician consultants.
The Service Registrar role delivers high quality, continuously improving, patient-centred care within well supported, Physician-led, general medicine training teams. The role is accredited for General Practice, ACRRM, Intensive Care and RACP Basic and Advanced trainees who are seeking broad exposure to a diversity of acute undifferentiated presentations in medicine and longitudinal care with Hospital in the Home and medical outpatient services. The role is focussed on managing inpatients, Hospital in the Home, hospital avoidance and general medicine outpatient clinics.
The Service Registrars also manage a team of junior medical staff and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. There is a strong focus on teaching as well as opportunities for research and quality improvement activities, with allocated non-clinical time.
The position requires participation in the acute undifferentiated on-call roster, with after-hours responsibilities approximately weekly.
ELIGIBILITY
To be considered for these positions applicants must hold unrestricted general registration with the Medical Board of Australia and have at least two years of clinical experience in Australia or Competent Authority country

About Albany Hospital
Albany Health Campus is a modern 130-bed hospital. The hospital is a regional resource centre for the 60,000 people lucky enough to live in Albany and the Great Southern Region.
The hospital medical services include an expanding general medicine department with an integrated HomeSafe program to bridge the gap between acute care in hospital and community.
As a regional resource centre Albany Hospital is a secondary referral hospital for a number of smaller hospitals and clinics in the region and has more than 30000 acute presentations annually to the Emergency Department. General Medicine is structured with a mixed model of Physicians and Rural Generalists with a growing number of junior medical staff and training registrars providing inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital is committed to delivering highest quality care close to home with highly skilled rural general Physicians and other local and visiting specialists. In addition to three general medicine teams, local teams include medical oncology with a radiation oncology centre, a geriatrician-led subacute care service and a leading palliative care service. A high dependency unit is managed by rotating specialists.
Albany Health Campus is a leader in service innovation and is implementing hospital avoidance strategies through the HomeSafe and Home Hospital programs providing specialist-led, integrated, and coordinated care across the entire patient journey. As part of a regional training hub, Albany Health Campus is committed to the education and training of the next generation of health workers. The hospital has a mature teaching program for rural generalists including medical education registrars and is accredited for Basic and Advanced physician training and internal medicine for other Colleges.
Salary And Employee Benefits
Registrar Year 1-7 $147,236 to $196,540 p.a.
* includes base salary $120,492 to $164,513 pa, professional development allowance $10,969 pa and 12% employer contributed superannuation.
Please note, employees who moves between different WA Department of Health entities will bring their entitlements (annual leave, long service leave, personal leave) with them. Taking a rural contract is not viewed as a break in service.
