About This Role
The Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for developing and implementing best practice workplace health and safety initiatives aimed at minimising workplace injuries whilst maximising positive workforce health and wellbeing outcomes. This position plays a pivotal role supporting the Executive Management Team with strategic advice on health and safety matters, and supports operational managers to drive a culture of safety and compliance.
The Health & Safety Advisor manages Vasey RSL Care's Workcover and Fit For Work processes to ensure staff who may have workplace or personal injuries can return to work safely.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be person-focused, enjoy working collaboratively as part of an effective team and champion workplace health, safety and wellbeing.
You will be adaptable in your approach, being equally practical and effective in the field with safety assessments and training as you are preparing procedures and written guidance.
You will also have an understanding of and experience with the Workcover system and injury management, and be able to prioritise urgent tasks efficiently.
You will have:
* Tertiary qualifications relating to OHS.
* Knowledge of OHS legislation and related standards across a range of hazard areas including healthcare and aged care, community care, building and construction and office related settings, and the ability to provide advice on these matters.
* Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of OHS plans, systems, policies, and procedures.
* Demonstrated experience in a leadership role being able to promote a safety culture and influence management and employees on OHS.
* Demonstrated experience providing coaching and education to support key stakeholders to meet their OHS responsibilities.
* Good understanding of injury management and the Workcover system.
* Demonstrated ability to lead effective change management.
* Current full driver's license and ability to drive.
* Satisfactory completion of a National Police Records Check (arranged by Vasey RSL Care).
* Valid working rights which will be subject to a VEVO check.
