About the role:
The Senior Economic Analyst is responsible for providing complex economic data analysis that informs high level considerations and decisions across the Department of State Development, other State Government departments and senior executives related to policy, strategy, operations, investment, and the government's economic development priorities.
In this role you will be overseeing the development and distribution of labour market reports across State Government, which includes coordinating, delegating and reviewing the work of staff within the team, as well as analysing economic data and developing insightful commentary, estimating the economic impact of Department initiatives to secure funding by liaising with project proponents and combining input-output impact models with other data sets and assumptions.
Key Competencies:
To apply and succeed in the role, you will have:
* Strong knowledge of statistical and economic theory and principles, and a comprehensive knowledge of labour market, training and other economic data sources, concepts, classifications and analysis techniques.
* Strong abilities in undertaking and communicating complex economic data analysis on a broad range of variables for a wide range of audiences, providing economic impact analyses, developing economic projections, undertaking complex modelling to estimate values for economic variables, identifying key issues from data for senior and executive leadership, and interpreting code generated interrogations of large economic data sets.
* Demonstrated experience in undertaking and communicating complex economic data analysis on a broad range of variables for a wide range of audiences in a meaningful way to support decision making.
* Strong capability to operate in an environment with tight deadlines, organise the progression and completion of various competing tasks, negotiate timeframes, and contribute to efficient work practices, as well as strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Remuneration:
Competitive salary $98,478 to $104,165 p.a. plus superannuation

Qualifications:
* Essential: Nil
* Desirable: Economics and/or Statistics degree, or equivalent
Special Conditions:
* The role will be offered full-time (1.0 FTE), initial 6-month term contract.
* Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) required prior to employment.
