The Role
We are currently looking for a Disability Support Worker to work with a client in Caboolture, QLD. The participant is a 20‐year‐old male who sustained a spinal cord injury from a motor vehicle accident and requires moderate to high intensity care. Applicants with prior experience working with traumatic brain injury will be highly regarded. This is a casual ongoing position with no end date in sight, requiring support 7 days a week.
Shift Times
* Day shift – 7.00am to 3.00pm
* Afternoon shift – 3.00pm to 10.00pm
* Inactive sleepover
Pay Rates
$40 to $81 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
* Assistance with personal care
* Assistance with bowel therapy (administering enema and digital stimulation)
* Prompt the participant to attend his self‐catheter if required
* Hoisting & transfers (full hoist/sling hoist)
* Medication prompting
* Attend to thorough skin checks
* Supervision/assistance during meal time
* Assistance with domestic tasks including meal preparation
* Assistance with health & rehab exercises
* Community access and rehab appointments
* Capacity building and companionship
Skills & Experiences
* Minimum 6 months of experience with a high intensity participant
* Excellent communication
* Australian driver licence and own vehicle
* Current National Police Clearance
* Current NDIS Screening Card or Yellow Card
* Current Blue Card
* First Aid & CPR Certificate
* Reliable, proactive, and positive attitude
