Position Overview
The Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) is responsible for coordinating and documenting the admission, management and discharge planning of patients within the department they are working. This includes day‐to‐day assessment and management, maintaining high levels of communication with patients and their families regarding the nature of their condition and its treatment, coordinating care with the team, arranging consultation with other staff when appropriate, and liaising with local medical officers and community‐based care modalities to ensure optimal patient care within the St Vincent's Health Network.
Qualifications
* Current Resident (PGY3 and above).
* Intending to pursue a career in internal medicine, rehabilitation, general practice, psychiatry, palliative care, or other specialties that require appropriate experience for training path requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Co‐ordinate and document patient admission, management, and discharge planning.
* Assess and manage patients on a daily basis.
* Communicate effectively with patients and families about their condition and treatment.
* Coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team.
* Arrange consultations with specialist staff when required.
* Liaise with local medical officers and community‐based care teams to ensure smooth discharge.
