We are seeking a dedicated Tax Accountant or Intermediate Business Accountant to join our team in Melbourne's Northern Suburbs. This full-time, on-site role is ideally suited for a professional who enjoys client interaction, values accuracy, and has hands‐on experience with Australian taxation and cloud-based accounting systems. You will be responsible for managing compliance for various entities while ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Primary Responsibilities
* Prepare and lodge Income Tax Returns, Financial Statements, and Business Activity Statements (BAS).
* Manage end‐to‐end accounting and tax compliance for a diverse range of entities, including Self‐Managed Super Funds (SMSFs).
* Liaise professionally with clients, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), and other relevant regulatory authorities.
* Ensure all statutory obligations are met with timely lodgements in strict accordance with Australian tax regulations.
* Maintain accurate financial records utilizing cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks.
Experience & Qualifications
* Experience: 1–2 years of proven experience working within an accounting practice.
* Education: Currently studying for or commencing CPA or CA qualification.
* Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Australian taxation laws and compliance requirements.
* Software Proficiency: Competency in Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and SoftAssist is required (experience with BGL is a plus).
* Eligibility: Must have full working rights in Australia and be available to work on‐site in Melbourne's Northern Suburbs.
