St Pat's is excited to offer a unique opportunity for a skilled and compassionate Community Support Worker to join our Library Connect initiative, a partnership with the City of Fremantle that brings homelessness and community support services into public library spaces.
Libraries are increasingly becoming safe, welcoming places for people experiencing homelessness, family and domestic violence, hardship or social isolation. This role helps bridge the gap by connecting people with the right supports, while also building confidence and capability among library and community services staff.

Who are St Pats?
St Patrick's Community Support Centre Limited (or St Pat's as it is affectionately known) is an award-winning not-for-profit homelessness support service and community housing provider. We have been working side-by-side with vulnerable people in the South Metropolitan region of Perth for more than 50 years. Our mission is to end homelessness in our community.
To achieve our mission, we work in partnership with government and human services agencies, businesses, and the broader community to provide a range of high-quality services delivered to break the cycle of poverty and disadvantage. These include housing, health and dental care, crisis intervention and emergency relief, social inclusion, and specialist support services.
Our collaborative integrated and person-centred approach allows us to be there for people at every stage of their journey out of homelessness.
About the Role
Based primarily at the Fremantle Library, with time spent at St Pat's Engagement Hub and other community settings, you will:
* Provide an approachable, supportive first point of contact for people experiencing homelessness, disadvantage or other challenges.
* Offer brief interventions, advocacy and warm referrels to community services.
* Build strong referral networks and community connections.
* Support library and community staff by sharing skills in trauma-informed practice, de-escalation and effective engagement with vulnerable people.
* Contribute to community awareness activities, workshops and outreach.
* Maintain accurate records, case notes and program reporting.
This is a highly collaborative role that works closely with both library teams and St Pat's programs to ensure all visitors feel welcome, respected and supported.
About You
* A qualification in community services, social work, case management or similar.
* Experience working with people with complex needs, including homelessness, FDV, mental health or hardship.
* Strong skills in engagement, communication, negotiation and de-escalation.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Understanding of trauma-informed practice and community development principles.
* Cultural competence and the ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
* Sound computer skills, including experience with client databases.
