Responsibilities
1. You will lead and guide efforts to clean, structure, and standardize network event data, including leading data quality initiatives to ensure timely and consistent access to data sources.
2. You will analyze network event data to develop high-fidelity security detections and compliance reports, leveraging multiple data sources and promoting the use of analytical technologies within the team.
3. As a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), you will triage and analyze alerts triggered by detections, determine next steps, and collaborate with security teams and device/service owners to respond effectively.
4. You will stay current in security and networking domains, coaching and mentoring colleagues.
5. As part of Microsoft’s Secure Future Initiative, you will drive strategic improvements in security policies and standards related to Azure networks and educate network service teams on implementing effective security controls.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field, or 7+ years of experience in software development, large-scale computing, modeling, cybersecurity, SOC detection, threat analytics, SIEM, or incident response.
* At least 1 year of experience in the secure operation of routers and switches in large IP networks.
* Knowledge of layer 2 protocols and layer 3 networking, including IP addressing and routing protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, and MPLS.
* Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's Degree or Doctorate in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields, or 10+ years of relevant experience.
* Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, SANS GCIA, GCIH, OSCP, Security+.
* At least 1 year of experience analyzing security event data related to large IP networks.
