The Position
An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced Emergency Medicine Consultant (FACEM) to join a dedicated Emergency Department team. As a Staff Specialist, you'll deliver high-quality, patient-centred emergency care across a broad and complex caseload. In this role, you will lead clinical decision-making, mentor and supervise junior doctors and contribute to education, audit and quality improvement activities. This is a permanent opportunity offering stability, leadership potential and the chance to make a lasting impact on community health outcomes.
The Hospital
This major referral hospital features a 43-bed Emergency Department with over 45,000 presentations annually and a 30% admission rate. The department manages a high-acuity, broad-spectrum caseload, including a significant paediatric component, supported by all major specialties and an ICU with ECMO capability. Consultants provide direct clinical supervision from 8am to midnight, seven days a week, with on-call service outside these hours. The FACEM team brings expertise across ultrasound, paediatrics, retrieval, toxicology, international EM, education, and leadership. The department holds ACEM accreditation for 24 months of Emergency Registrar training, including TS4 (late phase training).

Set in the heart of Northern Tasmania, this region offers a rare balance of lifestyle and opportunity. With a thriving food and wine scene, world-class nature experiences, and a welcoming community, it's more than a place to work - it's a place to thrive.
