If you're looking to start a rewarding career in the marine industry, Oceanwater Marine has an exciting opportunity for a T/A Position with a pathway to Apprentice Marine Mechanic. Based in the beautiful coastal town of Mandurah, WA, this causal to full-time role will see you working on a variety of marine engines and systems, learning from experienced professionals and developing the skills to become a qualified Marine Mechanic.
What We're Looking For

* Mechanical work experience through TAFE and/or workshop placement
* Willingness to learn new skills and grow within the role

Key Responsibilities
* Assist with servicing, maintenance, and repairs on outboard marine engines
* Perform routine inspections, diagnose mechanical issues, and support troubleshooting
* Help prepare vessels and engines for testing and commissioning
* Maintain workshop cleanliness, organisation, and safety standards
* Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
* Support senior technicians as required and follow established procedures
* Assist with documenting work completed, parts used, and job progress
* Load, unload, and handle engines, components, and equipment safely
Additional Requirements
* Basic understanding of mechanical tools, components, and procedures
* Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and with a team
* Good communication skills — able to liaise with team members and supervisors
* Current driver's licence preferred
* Punctual and dependable, with strong attention to detail
* Willingness to work in varied conditions (indoor/outdoor environments)
Preferred Qualifications
* Boating licence or experience operating vessels (preferred but not essential)
* Forklift licence or willingness to obtain (preferred but not essential)
* Experience working with diesel or petrol engines
* Marine industry experience (even limited) highly regarded (preferred but not essential)
* Basic electrical knowledge
* TAFE qualification in Marine, Mechanical, or similar trade pathway (preferred but not essential)
* Experience in a professional workshop environment
