Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist Resource Definition to lead brownfields drilling and resource definition programs at a top Australian gold-producing operation.
Reporting to the GM Exploration Growth, you'll play a key role in targeting and evaluating resource upgrades and extensions to support the Life of Mine Plan.
Requirements: Tertiary qualification in Geology (essential); a higher degree (e.g. MSc or business-related) will be highly regarded.
A minimum of 5–7 years' industry experience, with a strong gold focus and exposure to both production and exploration.
Demonstrated experience in brownfields / resource definition exploration .
High proficiency with Leapfrog and/or Surpac and 3D drillhole visualisation; basic resource estimation skills are an advantage.
Proven ability to lead, guide and mentor geologists and field teams.
A strong safety mindset, excellent communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.
Current C Class driver's licence Key aspects of the role include: Section 26 Statutory Supervisor Ticket (or the ability to obtain one).
Working back-to-back with another Senior Resource Development Geologist, taking supervisory responsibility for the Res Dev team, drill rigs and safety when the alternate Senior is off site.
The ability to communicate clearly across departments (Exploration, Geology, Mining, Technical Services, HSEC).
Near-mine RC drill rig – daily supervision, RC chip logging, mentoring Graduate/Field Geologists, rig safety and daily reporting.
Near-mine RC/diamond surface drill rig – daily supervision of RC and diamond programs, core and chip logging, mentoring Graduate/Field Geologists, rig safety and daily reporting.
Position Duties: Design and manage ResDef drill programmes to support near-mine and brownfields growth.
Integrate multi-disciplinary datasets (geology, geochemistry, geophysics) in both 2D and 3D environments to refine targets.
Use packages such as Leapfrog and/or Surpac, GIS and the MS Office suite for interpretation, modelling and reporting.
Manage contractors and field activities in line with the company's safety and environmental standards.
Prepare and manage budgets and physicals, and provide timely weekly, monthly and technical reports.
Drive continuous improvement in geological procedures, data quality and turnaround times.
