SAP Payroll Functional Lead

About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and driven SAP Payroll Functional Lead to take ownership of end-to-end payroll processes and system enhancements within a complex SAP HCM environment.
In this senior functional role, you will lead configuration, optimisation, and support of SAP Payroll (PY) for Australia, ensuring compliance with local legislation and aligning payroll operations with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the functional delivery of SAP Payroll solutions, including design, configuration, and support.
Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for Australian payroll legislation, compliance, and system processes.
Collaborate with stakeholders across HR, IT, and Finance to ensure accurate and timely payroll outcomes.
Oversee payroll-related system changes, enhancements, and testing.
Manage and mentor junior functional consultants or support team members (if applicable).
Provide leadership during system upgrades, audits, and integration projects.
Ensure compliance with Fair Work, ATO, and superannuation regulations.
About You
Extensive experience as an SAP Payroll Functional Consultant, with a strong background in leading payroll solution delivery.
Deep knowledge of SAP HCM, particularly PY (Payroll) modules.
Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, STP (Single Touch Payroll), and superannuation.
Proven ability to engage stakeholders and translate business requirements into functional system solutions.
Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Desirable Experience
Exposure to SAP S/4HANA or experience in system migration projects.
Experience with SuccessFactors Employee Central or Employee Central Payroll (ECP).
Familiarity with integration platforms (e.g. SAP PI/PO, Dell Boomi).
Leadership in payroll transformation or optimisation initiatives.
