Pain Medicine Trainee
The Royal Hobart Hospital invites applications for an accredited Pain Medicine Trainee position for the Core Training Stage (CTS) and/or Practice Development Stage (PDS) of the Faculty of Pain Medicine training programme.
About the Persistent Pain Service
The Persistent Pain Service at the Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s only tertiary referral pain service and is accredited as a Level 1 training unit by the Faculty of Pain Medicine, ANZCA.
It operates within a multidisciplinary framework with specialists from neurosurgery, ENT, rheumatology, anaesthesia, general practice, psychiatry, pain nursing, physiotherapy, psychology and administrative staff.
Essential Requirements
* Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (general or limited)
* Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration where applicable
Duties
* Day‑to‑day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients
* Provide after‑hours emergency cover as required

Salary
$138,978 – $194,675 per annum, consistent with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025.
Classification and Award
Medical Practitioner Level 5‑11 (Registrar/Senior Registrar).
Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
Period of Employment
Fixed‑term, full‑time day work: 76 hours per fortnight (+10 hours protected training time), commencing 1 February 2027 until 7 February 2028.
