KCLS is seeking a full-time Financial Counsellor based in Kununurra, WA - a gateway to meaningful work, professional growth, and experiences across the Kimberley.
This isn't just another financial counselling role. From one-on-one financial counselling to community outreach, advocacy, and travel to places many services never reach, the work is as diverse as it is impactful. No two days are the same, and every day brings purpose.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing financial counselling services – including advice, assistance and representation – to clients as part of an integrated, holistic and client-focused service, from KCLS offices and remote outreach locations.
* Refering clients internally and to other relevant services and community resources, based on a sound knowledge of and relationships with other service providers and governments.
* Working with other staff to identify gaps, priorities and emerging needs in community financial information and education, and co-delivering programs and initiatives which respond to those needs.
* Participating in interagency networks to build/maintain relationships with referring agencies, key organisations, community leaders and local people relevant to the area.
* Working with other financial counselling services across the Kimberley (and statewide) to strengthen our regional community of practice for financial counselling.
* Assisting in the preparation of reports to funding agencies by maintaining statistics and other records as required.

* Salary: circa $103,000 – $126,000 plus 12% super and up to $15,900 tax-free salary packaging.

Qualifications and Eligibility
To be eligible, candidates must hold (or be currently studying toward) the CHC5112 Diploma in Financial Counselling. The role prefers 5+ years of experience, but candidates with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a relevant role are encouraged to apply and will be considered.
* Demonstrated financial counselling capability, with experience supporting clients facing debt, rental stress, hardship, financial abuse, and related issues.
* Ability to explain financial concepts in plain language and communicate with empathy.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workload in a remote service delivery context.
* Commitment to social justice and working effectively with Indigenous people.
* Experience advising and representing people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and delivering community education programs.
* Current WA driver's licence.
Preferred/Highly Regard
* Prior work in a community legal practice or community-based organization in remote and rural Australia.
* Knowledge of trauma-informed or multidisciplinary practice.
* Experience developing or delivering community legal education programs.
