About the Role:
The Pain Management Unit (PMU) provides comprehensive multidisciplinary care for people living with persistent pain, with the aims of reducing the impact of pain on quality of life through education, functional improvement and development of active coping skills based on a psychosocially informed, whole-person approach to managing pain in-line with best evidence practice. The clinical multidisciplinary team includes physiotherapists, psychologists, occupational therapy, nursing and pain physicians and trainee pain fellows, as well as a consultant psychiatrist. The PMU provides pain education and group interventions to address these aims with group interventions varying between one-off 90-minute sessions to 6-week part time pain management programs. In addition, the PMU provides a Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) Assessment service to identify early CRPS and commence evidence-based treatments to ensure best patient outcomes.
