About the role-
As the Farm supervisor you will be responsible for working closely with management to ensure your picking and packing team are working to peak efficiency, following QA/QC guidelines and maintaining accurate records of harvests and costs. This is not an entry level position, and you will be required to multitask, exhibit a high level of organisation and accuracy and show great team leadership. You must be mature, physically fit, have competent tractor skills, some irrigation knowledge, a problem solving attitude, and clear communication skills. In return management will provide ongoing training to further your knowledge and skills on the farm.
Hours of work are approximately 38 hours per week with early mornings, minimal overtime required. You must have a full, unrestricted manual drivers’ license and LF forklift license. Pay rate negotiable based on experience. Trial period to begin.
Summary of Duties:
1. Lead a team picking and packing fresh vegetables adhering to QA, safety and farm guidelines.
2. Able to follow direction given by managers and confident to have constructive discussions regarding changes.
3. Maintain accurate production records and cost analysis.
4. Provide intermediate / experienced guidance and leadership to the production team, including hiring new staff and upskilling of capable team members.
5. Setting of daily / weekly / monthly production goals and reporting to management in weekly meetings.
6. Ensure the safety of all team members and maintain a safe working environment and safe production equipment.
7. Assist management with logistics and production planning.
8. Problem solve and make executive decisions where appropriate.
Skills and Experience
· Previous Farm experience
· Previous Supervisor experience
· Planning, scheduling and coordination skills
· Computer skills and ability to calculate and analyse costs
· Great team leadership and motivation techniques.
Desirable: Relevant Farming qualification, AusChem cert and first aid certificate.
