The Position
McConnell Dowell is seeking an experienced leader to manage the Victoria and Tasmania region. This role is pivotal in driving sustainable growth and achieving strategic objectives. The Regional General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the region’s business plan, managing the P&L, and fostering collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, and the market.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Regional General Manager will lead the development and execution of the Region’s business strategy and plans, manage the P&L to optimise profitability and ensure projects deliver key results. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with the McConnell Dowell Management System (MMS) and other accreditation obligations, drive continuous improvement and innovation within the region, and lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
The successful candidate will have:
o An operations background with demonstrated track record of successfully securing and delivering a pipeline of complex construction projects and programs, together with the required discipline in construction scheduling, cost, and risk management.
o A track record of successful market engagement / business development, including vigilance in monitoring market opportunities, working effectively with the Precontract team, and ensuring key staff are engaged with the market.
o High level people leadership particularly in ensuring staff who are geographically dispersed (sometimes remote), have a strong sense of connection and belonging to the firm.
o Proven experience in a senior management role within the construction or engineering industry, effective leadership and team stakeholder engagement skills and a commitment to safety, integrity, and customer focus.
