About the role
As Financial Accountant you will be part of the Finance Branch team, and responsible for providing services to the organisation in the area of asset accounting and associated functions and activities.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Deliver quality asset /general ledger accounting services to the organisation
- Support in the management of the construction in progress account balance which includes review of project expenditure, verification of assets constructed, and processing the capitalisation into the financial information management system
- Provide advice with regards the capitalisation of assets and associated asset accounting activities
- Problem solving and gather information to enhance the asset capitalisation process
- Support in the stocktake and asset revaluation process, processing asset retirements and additions, and other reconciliations as required.
- Maintain and control the general ledger (assets and projects specific) and module interfaces
- Develop and maintain working relationships with clients and stakeholders and maintain a knowledge of contemporary development and trends in financial and asset accounting issues
- Undertake all financial and administrative functions for Council’s bank reconciliations including the timely processing of all outstanding monies, receipting, adjusting entries and maintenance of appropriate filing and storage systems
- Participate in project teams established to address key issues related to functions of the Financial Accounting section

- Bachelor of Business (Accounting, Commerce of Finance) Degree or equivalent qualification
