Primary objective
Support Registered Nurses and Midwives and assist in providing care for patients through directed activities aligned to skills,
either individually or in a team environment.
Context statement
Provide support to the Katherine Hospital Emergency Department by maintaining imprest stock levels, adherence to cleaning
protocols and maintenance of cleaning schedules. The role requires the ability to problem solve and escalate equipment issues in
addition to the procurement of non-imprest items.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Maintain expected stock levels and restocking of the Emergency Department.
2. Perform duties as directed to ensure the efficient functioning of the clinical area and work as a member of the healthcare
team supporting a safe environment.
3. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
4. Attend education and maintain currency in essential training requirements as per NT Health policy.
5. Communicate with patients and hospital staff to maintain a positive and harmonious working environment within role
responsibilities.
6. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
7. Maintain expected stock levels and restocking of the Emergency Department.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in a health or aged care facility in a related role with experience in patient care activities
2. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills demonstrating competent literacy, numeracy
skills and computer literacy.
3. Commitment to positive team culture and working effectively within a diverse cultural and multi-disciplinary environment and
adherence to patient confidentiality and privacy.
4. Demonstrated capacity to prioritise workloads and complete delegated activities whilst maintaining patient and workplace
safety including having and maintaining a level of physical fitness to safely perform tasks associated with the ESSO role.
1. Previous experience working in a hospital environment and understanding of principles of hygiene and infection control.
Desirable
1. Current first aid or basic life support certificate.
2. Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or equivalent.
