About the Role This opportunity is suited to an experienced ICT Project Manager operating at an EL1-equivalent level, responsible for leading complex technology initiatives within a large government environment. You will play a critical role in delivering strategic projects that enhance digital capability, improve operational efficiency, and support national programs. Working within a structured yet agile delivery environment, you will oversee full project lifecycles, ensuring alignment with business objectives, governance standards, and stakeholder expectations. This role offers exposure to cross-agency collaboration and high-level engagement with senior executives. Position : ICT Project Manager – Daily Rate (EL1 Equivalent) Location : ACT (Onsite) Working Arrangement : Primarily onsite (limited flexibility case-by-case) Start Date : 01 July 2026 Duration : 12 months 2 x 12-month extensions Application Window : Closing 24 April 2026 Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end delivery of complex ICT projects and programs Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and deliverables Engage and influence internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and outcomes Identify, assess, and manage risks, issues, and dependencies Ensure adherence to governance frameworks, reporting standards, and compliance requirements Facilitate project meetings, steering committees, and governance forums Monitor project performance and provide clear status reporting and insights Oversee procurement activities, vendor management, and contract delivery Drive continuous improvement across project delivery practices and methodologies Support agile, hybrid, or waterfall delivery approaches as required Conduct post-implementation reviews and ensure knowledge transfer About You Demonstrated experience (5 years) managing complex ICT projects within the Australian Federal Government Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Hybrid, Waterfall) Proven ability to engage, influence, and negotiate with diverse stakeholder groups, including executive leadership Experience working across multi-agency or cross-functional environments High-level communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly Strong problem-solving capability with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset Experience using project management tools and frameworks (e.g. PRINCE2, PMBOK, MSP) Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Relevant certifications (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, Agile certifications) highly regarded Must be able to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance Must have valid working rights in Australia (Australian Citizen or long-term visa holders only; no sponsorship available) As a mandatory requirement for this contract role required by our client, applicants are kindly asked to complete a compliance check and upload their work rights verification at www.charterdiligence.com.au/portal.
