We’re recruiting on behalf of a well‑established, multi‑disciplinary consultancy delivering civil infrastructure and land development projects across public and private sectors.
This opportunity is for a Principal Civil Designer who wants to own true technical authority not just a title.
The Role
This is a hands‑on technical leadership position, sitting at the centre of the design function.
* Provide technical direction across the design team
* Lead detailed design across roads, subdivisions, and civil infrastructure
* Mentor and guide a small team of designers and drafters
* Work closely with PMs, engineers, and stakeholders to shape delivery
* Maintain and elevate design standards and quality across projects
This role is Darwin‑based and embedded with the team — giving you direct influence over projects, people, and outcomes.
What You Bring
* Circa 20+ years’ experience in civil design (consultancy environment)
* Strong capability in 12D Model and AutoCAD
* Experience across roads, land development, stormwater, and earthworks
* Ability to lead design delivery and guide others technically
* Confidence working with autonomy and limited direction
* Demonstrated experience acting as the technical authority within a design team

This role requires someone who is willing to relocate to Darwin and be embedded within the team, contributing at a senior technical level.
Given the nature of the role, you must have strong working knowledge of Australian civil design standards.
