About the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a progressive department that values innovation, collaboration, and professional growth while contributing directly to high-quality, patient-centred care. Whether you're looking to further develop your ICU experience or your hospital clinical skills in an intensive care area, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in patient care while continuing to grow professionally.
Why Join Us?
The ACT Government has expanded the Canberra Hospital to deliver more emergency, surgical and critical care capacity for the ACT and surrounding region. The 43,000 sqm Critical Services Building has transformed the campus to meet growing health needs. The 36-bed critical care unit treats over 2,500 patients a year from Canberra and the surrounding NSW area.
Professional Development:
Access training and development resources to build your clinical skills and support your progression as a hospital pharmacist. The department runs a successful AdPha Accredited Residency Training Program, an excellent intern training program and is accredited for several Registrar Training Residency Programs, including Critical Care. You will work alongside experienced ICU pharmacists to develop and learn from each other.
Innovative Practice:
Join a department that leads the way in enhancing scope of practice and different ways of working, such as credentialed accuracy checking technicians, partnered pharmacist medication charting and remote clinical pharmacy services. A strong, team-first environment welcomes pharmacists at all levels, supports learning, innovation and excellence, and invites you to regular multidisciplinary ward rounds where clinical observations and recommendations are actively sought and discussed alongside intensivists, nurses, and allied health.
What You'll Gain:
Opportunities to innovate, mentor, and shape the future of pharmacy practice.
Opportunities to supervise and mentor junior staff, and contribute to departmental education and research.
Experience with a collaborative team culture that supports learning, innovation and excellence.
Genuine job satisfaction through meaningful clinical work and a department that values your contribution.
A rewarding role where your interventions measurably improve patient care and safety.
Hands-on experience with advanced ICU therapeutics, monitoring technologies and complex medication regimens.
Clear professional mentorship with personalised development plans and competency mapping, providing tangible portfolio evidence for future specialist pharmacy applications.
The position is offered to work on site, on a temporary full-time basis, with the possibility of extension or permanency and includes working shifts outside of standard business hours. Candidates will be routinely rostered anywhere between the standard pharmacist hours coverage of 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
