As a Laboratory Assistant, you will be responsible for performing routine tasks in a laboratory setting.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Receipting and processing of specimens;
* Pre and post analytical specimen handling;
* Identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens;
* Filing and storage of specimens and data entry;
* Assisting Scientists in the Lab as required;
* Continuous learning of processing requirements of different types of samples for different tests;
* Staying up to date with processing updates;
* Respond to result, sample requirements and general queries;
* Identifying and resolving problems on at the pre-analytic stage.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:
* Specimen processing and data entry experience;
* Excellent customer service and communication skills;
* The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment;
* Ability to work with minimal supervision and work as a team;
* Understanding the importance of following procedures accurately;
* A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures;
* Previous laboratory experience and exposure to medical terminology would be desirable, but not essential;
* Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or Pathology Collection is desirable.
